Mint Hill is the part of Mecklenburg County that still feels rural. Along Lawyers Road, Bain School Road, Blair Road and Highway 51 the lots run from an acre to ten, the houses are 1960s-to-1990s brick ranches and split-levels, and almost every property has something else with a roof on it: a detached garage, a workshop, a pole barn, a run-in shed. Low Pitch Is Not a Problem

Ranch and split-level roofs here are long and low - 3:12 and 4:12 are typical, and rear additions and carports drop to 2:12 or less. Asphalt struggles below 4:12. Mechanically seamed standing seam is rated to 1/2:12, and screw-down panel with butyl tape in the laps is fine to 3:12, so metal is the natural fit.
