Lake Norman's East Shore

Mooresville is where the Charlotte metro turns into lake country. The Point, Bay Crossing, Morrison Plantation, Crescent Land and the peninsulas off Brawley School Road are large waterfront and near-water homes, many built since 2000 with long rooflines and a lot of glass facing the water. They want standing seam for the look and for the life, and they need the lake spec: Galvalume substrate, sealed cut edges, stainless fasteners, and aluminum over steel for any shingle-profile product, because humidity sits on a roof here overnight in a way it does not ten miles inland. Copper-penny and slate-blue Kynar colours sell better on the water than anywhere else we work.

Race City Buildings

Mooresville's other identity is NASCAR. Along Highway 150, Highway 3 and Rolling Hill Road, and in the industrial parks off I-77 exits 33 and 36, there are hundreds of race shops, fabrication buildings, transporter garages and storage structures, almost all of them roofed in exposed-fastener PBR or R-panel on steel purlins. A great deal of that panel went up in the 1990s and 2000s, and it is now in the window for screw replacement or a reflective coating that takes the edge off a summer shop floor. Downtown and the Older Town

Main Street and the blocks around the old depot and the Mooresville Mill are 1900s-to-1930s houses, some with original terne or galvanised roofs on porches and rear wings that have been painted a dozen times. Those are classic coating candidates where the metal is sound, and conversion candidates where the main roof has gone to shingles and back. Stone-coated steel comes up on the bigger brick homes on the west side of town where a heavier roof suits the architecture.

Brawley School Road, Williamson Road, River Highway (NC-150) and Highway 21 are the working corridors; Troutman and Davidson are inside the same run.
